A Gold Number is one that is easy to remember or that spells something that would appeal to peeps!! 07***12345 would be a gold number!!

I'm not 100% sure, but I beleive that Orange only assign a number when you connect the SIM. so you will not be able to tell in advance unlike the O2 sims etc.

That's right, going by the ones I've registered in the past. You have a sim number which you then register with orange along with the IMEI of the phone. They give you a number which is then activated with a couple of sim update SMS messages.

Still, it's a nice change from O2.
