Can they claim parking penalty?

Hello all, I am very upset and confused. Accidentaly, I parked for little while at permit holders place. At home I found out, that parking ticket is made for car Vauxhall and my car is VW. Also there was mistake in registration plate number, swopped numbers.Observed time was not even minute on the parking ticket/Can they claim penalty, when the information are not right? But they have a picture of the car. Can they they make a new parking ticket for that time? I am afraid, if they could do, they will send me penalty + plus late charges. Please, please give me your opinion.Thanks a million.

Who is 'they'? Council or private scammers?

If Council then the wrong reg number means their ticket is unenforceable, you got lucky!

If private then all their tickets are unenforceable anyway.

In your case (because of the wrong car reg number), either way, ignore and do not pay.

But she has nothing to fear either way as the Council has got the car reg number wrong.

Annie they cannot re-issue the PCN even if they realise their mistake. Just keep the PCN and do nothing, the photo of your car is not relevant if the PCN itself states the wrong reg number. They cannot enforce the penalty charge.

Do not contact them, do not tell them about their mistake.

If you get any letters about that PCN then come back and post them here and you can get help with your appeal. But that's only if they write to you (chances are they will do nothing as the wrong reg number is fatal to their case).

Yes, it is Council, there is a logo on PCN and enclosed an envelope with printed Borough Council address.

Even they will realise their mistake, can they ask for late charges?

They cannot ask for any charges on an invalid ticket. They only have one chance of getting it right so if its wrong they've had it.

I'm sure you will have read the advice you've been given on pepipoo forums as well by now. Both forums are correctly telling you that it's your lucky day because of that wrong reg number. You will not have to pay this ticket but do post back if the COuncil are silly enough to try to follow it up. You still won't have to pay it!
