Great Yarmouth - things to do

We are going to Yarmouth on Monday (me, hubby, and two kids 7 and 9). I was wondering if anyone could recommend any thing to do, places to visit and good places to eat. Only going for 5 days but would like to be able to do things (limited budget) with the kids. Thanks

  • I was in Great Yarmouth over the weekend, we did crazy golf - the pirate one £5 per adult, £4.50 per child, there are cheaper versions along the front heading to the pleasure beach.
Yesterdays world was a nice couple of hours - a step back in time, if you check out the tourist information or your hotel there are buy one get one free admissions with a full paying adult so £7 for an adult and a child, model village is ok for a few hours as is the sealife centre. The pleasure beach is good fun although the log flume wasn't working last weekend and a wrist band is probably the best value for money, joyland at the other end of the sea front is more for younger children although my 9 yr old still had to have a ride on the 'snails' - buy bags of tokens as you get extra's free.

There is a brochure 'whats on in great yarmouth' download it before you go as it has loads of money off coupons in there.

Food wise, lots of similar priced restaurants along the front near joyland, the one that stood out for me was the Lemon & Green Pepper, very nice and probably the best meal we ate all weekend.

If you wanted to get further afield there is pleasurewood hills (theme park) and several zoo's etc..again details in the whats on guide - can't do linky as not that technically minded.

Have a great week, hope the weather is good for you!

If you want the beach id reccomend heading to Gorleston, the beach there is lovely. The water looks nice and the acaul beach is much better than Yarmouth.
Regent Bowling alley has special offer for child bowls free during summer hols. we went and 2 adults 1 child was £8 so thought that was quite good.
Pettits is good, the kids would love that. Take your own food as its expensive to eat there, theres plenty of benches/grassed areas to have picnic. You should be able to get vouchers from Tourist informaton centre.
If I think of anything else i'll come back :)

The Dinosaur Adventure Park at Weston Longville near Norwich is a brilliant place to take the kids for the day. It's not cheap, about £40 for 4, but well worth it for the whole day. The kids have to follow the trail and find different dinosaurs, the T-Rex model is great! There's animals (including snakes and spiders), adventure playgrounds, digging for bones, go-karts, crazy golf, shop, cafe, and more. It's a huge place.

We went to Yarmouth 3 years ago and went there. My boys were 5 & 7 at the time and loved it. I don't normally like spending a lot of cash on parks, but even I liked this one.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I really like the idea of Dinosaur Land. The sealife centre (i've got tesco vouchers that i can use here) and might try the Lemon and Pepper food place, do you know what type of food they do and what sort of price they charge? Looking forward to it now just hope we get some good weather.

I would miss sealife centre as even with vouchers I think its a poor attraction.

I think the childrens meals were about £4 for main and desert, you could have simple food like omelette and chips for about £5, I had chicken stroganoff - i think it was £10, the beef stroganoff was around £16, it all depends what you want to eat and be prepared to pay, as I said before there are loads that all do the same food and they are all the same price but I felt that the Lemon and Green Pepper were the nicest - they do roasts, pasta, pizza, steak, jacket potato's - the menu's are all outside each building - have a stroll around and see what you fancy.

On other note there is a greek tavern that we couldn't get into called columbus - or similar in the road behind yesterdays world - absolutely gutted went to go and eat there and they were all booked out but it smelt fab, went back the next day to find out they weren't open on sundays so we missed out :(

The Dinosaur Adventure Park is great and better still it now takes tesco vouchers...

I was there last week on a rare hot sunny day and just to warn you there was about a 45 min queue to get in at 11am so would probably recommend arriving earlier if you can.
  • Pettits Farm park is good as got loads of free rides too. Africa Live as well as the usual Pleasurewood Hills, Pleasure beach and Aquarium.

Thanks for all your seggestions they have really helped. I looked on the Tesco website and quite a few of the places recommded accept the vouchers (bonus) . I think we will be going to Dinosaur Adventure and Pleasurewood Hills for definate, we will go to the sealife centre if we have a bit of a wetday. As for Pettits we might try it we'll see with the weather (forcast dont look great at the moment lets hope it changes).
