Much more important to focus (no pun intended) on condition, history etc at that price range rather get fixated on a specific model/make.
There are some minters out there for that money of most makes, but also plenty of lemons:eek:

    Agree 100%..;)

I would suggest a Mondeo or Focus (I drive a Mondeo), or you could pick up a 6 year old Mazda 6 for about £3K with around 80,000 miles on it.
  • it's hard to go wrong with a Mondeo or Focus given how many of them there are, as an added bonus they do drive quite nicely too.

Another suggestion would be to look at your local taxi rank - cabbies generally want reliable and economical work-horses - if it's good enough for them to put their livelihood on it should be good enough for you if you're not to worried about what you drive

I think the mazda 6 is issentially a Mondeo, (rebadged)???

Both good choices, but so are so many others. Avoid older low mileage cars unless you have the history. These have often been wrongly mollycoddled, been sat as ex write offs or waiting for years on garage forecourts. Good honest mileage is no real detriment. ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

you'd also get a lovely freebie of a knackered back by buying the Mazda. One of the worst cars ever for comfort...
