Hi advise please Do you need to buy/ hold on to shares on the Ex-div date to recieve the dividend and then can they be sold the next day,I know the share price will prob drop to compensate for the dividend

Whoever owns the shares when they go ex div receives the dividend.I am a Chartered Financial Planner

In order to receive the dividend, you need to have bought them no later than the close of trading on the day before the ex-div date. On the ex-div date they will trade without the right to the dividend.0
