Paint around sink area in kitchen

We have finally decided on a paint colour for our kitchen, but it isn't one of those wipeable kitchen types. Now, we only have one row of tiles around our sink , and there will be some water splashing onto the painted area. Is there something I could put on top the paint to make it more water resistant? I was thinking clear varnish, but this will make it look shiny which we don't want.
Thanks.

get a wipeable paint - if you use waterbased eggshell it has a sheen rather than a shine

Misgrace who is a professional decorator told me to buy Dulux endurance as I have just an upstand and I can vouch for it!

Varnish doesn't have to be shiny - you can get matt varnish
