£2500 a year!! About £210 a month. So assuming a round 30 days in a month you are paying £7 per day just for insurance. Adding on car costs (tax, fuel, maintenance). How on earth can this be the best option? Do you live in the middle of no-where? How far do you need to travel each day?0

you are 19, the last thing you want is a 4k loan around your neck0

assuming you can get a loan, they aren't just giving loans out any more and the rate might not be that attractive.Nothing to see here, move along.0

Without wishing to cause offence, I would not even consider this! doesn't £2k a year for insurance seem excessive to you? it does to me! Its a fair assumption that if an insurance company is giving you quotes like that, they really don't want your business. So if you take a loan out to cover the cost of buying the car and insuring it for the year, how are you going to pay to insure it next year? premiums don't start dropping much until you are over 25 with some decent NCB behind you, so you'll still have hefty monthly premiums to pay PLUS the loan repayments from last year.
Rather than go for the 51/02 plate car you have in mind, get something older and worth less to smoke around in. If you have something worth £500, and your excess is £500, then obviously you are never going to claim for theft/fire, so the premium is going to be commensurately cheaper because you've suddenly become a more attractive risk for the company. all they have to worry about is the third party aspect. It's what I'd do anyway.0 -

At that age you don't want debts hanging around your neck.
Buy a cheap snotter and run that until you can afford to pay cash.0 -
