Can I get multitrip travel insurance if I'm away for a year?

Hello,
I am going away for a year to stay in Thailand and during that time I will be based in Thailand but will also be going abroad to a few surrounding countries during that year for holiday of a couple of weeks.

Can I still get a multi-trip one year travel insurance policy?

The main item I want to insure, apart from myself, is an SLR camera which costs about £450. I have laptop and ipod which would be nice to cover but won't be carrying them around with me as much as the camera so not so worried about getting stolen.

Alternatively can I just get insurance for camera and nothing else and get my health insurance separately if that is cheaper?

Any tips or pointers on the best deal?

Try googling insurance for backpackers which is what I suspect you are doing. If you are not, then you will really need to consult a broker for advice as you will need something more than is available as a travel policy for short trips as most only cover up to 90 days I think.
