seems high, but you are on a meter and owe them.
However make sure you aren't wasting electric by leaving appliances (TV, pc etc) on stand by.0 -
It depends how much of the £705 is 'paying back' what you owed.
Do you know what price you are paying(what the meter is set at) per Unit(kWh)?0 -
please don't shout, got a headache0

Similar to you, 4 bed house, usual things on, and I pay about £700 a Year for electric, but unlike you cook with gas and heat with gas.
Assuming they are right, and you do owe for a price increase the previous company didn't set on the meter, and if you can afford to pay off the amount owed, you might find that Ebico is a cheaper supplier becasue you are on a meter. They say they only charge for fuel used, no extra charges for having a meter.
Theres been about 32 weeks since 28th Jan, so to have used £705 since then you must have been buying electric cards of about £20 a week, so was that a big increse for you?0 -
We Are Paying Back At A Rate Of £1.00 A Week I Buy About £30.00 Cards Every 10 Days What I Cant Work Out Is How Come I Know Other People Are Only Paying £50.00 A Month And Are At Home All Day And Having The Tumble Dryer On Every Day --4/5 Times Aday --even In Summer Cant Work This One Out0
-
£90 a month for electric is alot I think, especially as only paying back £1 a week! But I think pre payment meters are often charged at a higher tariff, so you could be paying more per unit than the people who use tumble dryers every day even in the summer.
Theres a thread somewhere here I read on how to check if your meter is working properly, might be worth you checking that out.
And if you could afford to pay off the arrears then check out the Ebico website as you could reduce useage by changing supplier.0 -
It also sounds like pre=pay just isn't the right thing for you and would probably be better on a normal credit meter0
