2nd hand car purchase
Hi,
My mum recently bought a second hand car from a garage. The price in the windscreen was 3395 pounds..She part exchanged her car for 400 pounds and left a 200 pound deposit and paid the remaining 2795 pounds after they did a bit of work on the car..
She exchanged all the paperwork including a reciept stating the balance paid in full.
This garage is now ringing my mother to tell her she owes them 400 pounds because she owes the V.A.T on the purchase..There was no reference to added V.A.T in the windscreen displaying the full price.
The garage never reffered to V.A.T and they let us drive the car away after shaking hands on the deal ect..
Any advise would be great..I just need something to tell them that stops them ringing my mother and asking her to pop down to sort it out, when as far as i can see there is nothing to sort out
Thanks
GARY

+1 Tell them to Foxtrot Oscar.0

Thanks ..I knew it was a simple one ..Just making sure before Foxtrot Oscar is conveyed to them.
If they do persist i shall be highlighting their obvious dodgy practice to my local paper and trading standards.0 -
Report them to HMRC, you don't pay VAT on used cars, unless it is a commercial vehicle.0
