Highest Interest Account, regardless of notice?

Hey all
We all love high interest no-notice accounts, like ICICI's HiSave at 5.15%, BUT, I've planned that i do not need to access in any rush (less than £30,000) and was wondering what the best NOTICE accounts were?
actually let me rephrase that, the highest payer, regardless of notice.. (and not a regular savings account), just a simple, drop in and leave it type of account.. and i really don't mind giving notice if i do need access to the money..
Much appreciated
Chelsea Building Society have a 20 day 0.5% tracker, so at the moment its 5.25%..
is there any better? Please do let me know!

Anglo-Irish Bank have a 7 Day Notice Account paying 5.1% which seems worth a look - and a few more mentions on here. In fact I think the Personal Deposits section of their website is always worth a look.
I also notice they now offer the notice account for the Police Officers Friendly Society at 5.1% for 5 days notice. (Just to add a note of 'interesting trivia' to the discussion.)0 -
so it seems Chelsea's 20 day tracker still pays out the most, at 5.25%? I might just go ahead and apply for that, unless there's a better notice account out there.. :-)0

Try using the searches on Moneyfacts or Moneysupermarket*. This way you should be able to identify the best account for you.0

The Chelsea BS account includes a bonus 0f 0.5% for 12 mths - as you noted.
The answer to your question will be best provided by one of the savings comparisons sites. It is unlikely that an individual on this forum would or could know of an account that is not detailed on one of those. If they did then I imagine the recommendation would need to be treated with considerable caution.0 -
It depends on what you call notice.
Ruffler Bank is offering much higher rates if you tie the money 3+ months (3 months: 5.30%, 6 months: 5.67%; 12 months 5.93%).

Check with them what happens if the BOE rate goes up (as it is likely). I don't know if this is variable interest or not.0 -
Remember that saving your money with small institutions such as Ruffler bank carries extra risk - the risk that the company will go bust. It may be covered by the FSCS, but it takes time to get money out of the FSCS and you are only guaranteed 100% of the first £2000, then 90% of the next £33,000. You are taking an extra risk by putting your money in one of these rather than a large AA rated bank.I'm an Investment Manager. That includes 0.65% bonus for 12 months.0 -
Hey all,
thanks for your inputs, on money supermarket, one of the better rates of interest at 5.30% was NOTTINGHAM BS. its a 30 day notice postal account, has anybody had any experience of them? Any handy pointers that anyone can give?
It's just that I have no idea whether they are a big company, or a small one who carry the risk of going bust, as Chrismaths kindly brought my attention to..
thanks

Wouldn't recommend the Nottingham if you don't want to be checking every month. Long history of "best buys" which quietly drop into the second division...
Personally, I've found Leeds (& Holbeck) and Coventry to be fairly consistemt with reasonable rates (although rarely at the top of the tree when accounts are first advertised).0
