Dell 1720 Headphone Jack Not working advice

Hi I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 but for a while the headphone jack has been getting worse (wiggle it about to get sound from headphones) now however no sound at all .. sound on laptop speaker is working fine so I know its the socket thats broken not a laptop sound problem

I have waded through google and forums etc its deffo the socket thats having problems

My question is can I get USB headphones and plug them in the back of laptop so I can get sound? (just standard USB ports) or is that a daft question ?? or even small speakers to plug into the USB ports at the back so I can plug headphones into that

Any help much appreciated
Thanks

you can get bluetooth headsets, cost a bit though.. (albeit less than a new motherboard)
