Hubby worried about changing
I've done a price comaprison on U-switch and it reckons we can save £140 a year by switching to Atlantic dual-fuel. The thing is hubby signed us up for guaranteed price-capping or something with British Gas and is worried that if we switch, we'll end up worse off if prices keep going up.
Does anyone here have experience of Atlantic and what they're like, if they're likely to hike their prices up suddenly?
Thanks,
Em

Atlantic have only just put their prices up, I know it doesn't really seem like it at the moment but they don't tend to put their prices up arbitrarily every month! If you've capped with British Gas then you will be paying more than on their normal tariffs for the pleasure, it seems unlikely there will be another rise in the next six months or so, indeed some people are predicting a decrease as the price of wholesale gas is likely to fall soon. I would say its a good bet, there is nothing to stop you moving again ifd it doesn't work out.

They are part of Scottish and Southern. I am with the Southern Electric part of the Group. From four years' experience they are not frequner increasers of prices and their service is good too- quick response to calls and emails and things sorted withlittle hooha. Recently I queried how the high rate units in my * no standing charge* account had been apportioned and was told it would be adjusted on next bill. I am happy it will be, but with many other suppliers I would not be.0

Wait a minute, OP's hubby might just be correct!
Why have you assumed that he is on the latest capped tariff? and based all your advice on that assumption.
I am on the BG capped to April 2010 tariff and BG standard Tariffs are 47%(Elec) and 37%(gas) more than my tariff.
There is also the BG price protection 2007 which has even cheaper prices than mine.
BG Price Protection 2009 also much cheaper than Standard Tariff.
BG Price Protection December 2009(different to that above) also much cheaper than Standard Tariff.
Then there is BG Price Promise which is the cheapest of the lot.
OP might just be a little sick if they followed your advice and ended up paying more.0
