Shocking car insurance

And for all of those who might be tempted to drive without insurance what happens if you have an accident and hit a bus loaded with school children? The insurers of the bus will pay and then they are very likely to come after you for their outlay which could be £ms. O.K. you wouldn't be able to settle the claim but stand a real possibility of losing any assets that you have - in comparison the rise in your insurance costs to protect you from all of this would seem cheap!0

Try CIS, (cooperative Ins. Co) they arent on any comparison site.
I have a one year old 1.2 Corsa, full no claims, for about £220
worth a ring.
Hope that helps.
Thanks, just tried them they quoted me £1263 and 82 pence! The only thing I can think of that could possibly have blacklisted me with the insurers is that some kids broke into my shed and stole my bike - I'm thinking now I shouldn't have bothered reporting it to the police.

Have you tried using all the comparison sites provided on here to minimise the costs and looked at the cashback sites as well?0

The MAIN reason insurance is expensive (apart from convictions/claims) is the area you live in. A 1.2 corsa with full ncb is £150 to insure in the isle of man, if you lived in london its £500 minimum!
PS great to be back on the forums! Over a year away! Cant believe I predicted the Ashes correctly (not signed on since!), feel so chuffed!Target- clear £1000 student overdraft by Jan 11

Does this not make you want to look at the way you plan your life and where you live/work?
You are exposed in that you can only get to work by car, but you can't afford even quite small rises in costs.
I made sure I moved near a train/bus station that I can walk to or even cycle to work if necessary.
It doesn't sound to me like you've planned very well in living so far away and not near any public transport.
Could you consider moving?
The transposrt costs must be cripling.
Fortunately I think most people are not like that.
Most people won't break the law simply beacuse they want something.
I don't know anyone who would do that I'm glad to say.
So no I don't think it would become widespread.
It's not a small rise though is it? It's massive!
I can't believe you're criticising where he lives as lack of planning! Maybe he llived there before he got this job, maybe he worked round the corner for the last 20 yrs. Maybe it's the only job going, as they're thin on the ground at the mo.
Good for you to manage to plan your life so efficiently, but some of us are only human.:cool:I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
How do I once criticise him for where he lives?!? I am just pointing out the facts having worked in insurance for the past year. Post code is a major major factor. For example, if your with Aviva and they have had more claims in newcastle than in durham, then the durham rate will be cheaper. There wouldnt be hundreds of different insurance companies with differing underwriting criteria otherwise, because I can assure you there is.Target- clear £1000 student overdraft by Jan 11

My husband was with the same insurance company for ten years, then we did a quote on the insurance website (to see what new customers would get) which was £300 LESS than he'd been quoted. we rang to request it be matched and they said no.
They were quoted him £65 a month + legal protection, went on a comparrison site and got the same insurance for £18 a month
So it really pays to shop around. We never auto renew now.Payment a day challenge: £236.69
