Car Insurance Claim Dispute

Hi, in april this year I was involved in an accident where the other driver reversed into the front of my car. At the time of the accident the driver was very apologetic and claiming he didn't see me. At the time of the accident I had 2 adults and 1 child in my car whilst he was alone passenger. After the collision he came over to my car and offered to sort it out privately without involving our insurance companies so I took his details and said I would ring him once I had gotten a quote. After getting a quote of approx £600 I tried contacting him but he wouldn't answer my calls, I then got texts from another number asking who I was he denied ever being involved in an accident with me. Anyway after getting no joy from trying to sort out privately I resorted to involving insurance companies. He has said that the accident was my fault and that he was stationary and I ran into the back of his car. An engineer then came out to inspect my vehicle. After about a month I received the report through the solicitor working on my behalf, the report on my vehicle was fairly accurate give or take a few details, but the report on the other vehicle was completely wrong, it had wrong dates, wrong photos which showed severe damage, wrong names, wrong locations and the other drivers insurance company decided that their client was telling the truth based on this report, I spoke to my solicitor to disclose all the discrepancies and the outcome was that the report for his vehicle was from an accident the car had been involved in 3 years ago, I simply fail to believe that this is simply an error, companies get paid alot to avoid simple mistakes like that and to think they were goin to base a decision on their 'mistake' is actually quite frightening, but after all that they admitted that they had made a mistake with the report and was simply just an error on their part, but they still believed that I was at fault. The other driver then also said he had an independent witness. I obtained a copy of this report along with details of this witness and after some investigation I found that this witness was in fact related through marriage to the other driver, even after she had clearly stated on her statement that she doesn't know either party involved. I have spoken to my solicitor with these findings and have emailed all the written evidence I had to her. Her witness statement suggested that I had pulled out from behind the other driver and scraped along his bumper, but the heights of each vehicle is completely different and therefore the damage is not consistent with what they are saying and this has also been explained to my solicitor with pictures of his vehicle damage and mine. I have asked my solicitor to obtain an engineers report for his vehicle as it has not been done.

From an outsiders point of view, where do you think I stand and also does anyone know what the next step will be??

Any info or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
