I live in Reading. There is a Comfort Inn within easy walking distance of the uni and not too far away from the station. Not sure what it is like though. It is in Christchurch rd if you want to look into it.0

If price is important, Reading is also available via Priceline. According to Betterbidding, the Marriot was available for £45 (plus tax).

Like Jane45 I also live in Reading so know of hotels but have never stayed in them. Elmhurst Hotel is the other side of the university campus (the Whiteknights end) at 51 Church Road, Earley, Reading Tel:0118 966 1588. It doesn't seem to have a website. You can walk to the university in 5 or 10 minutes from there. The number 17 bus which runs every few minutes from the Friar Street near the station to Wokingham Road (Three Tuns). At the end of the route it's about 200 yards along Church Road to the hotel. It is £1.30 on the bus and make sure you have the right money as buses in Reading don't give change! http://www.reading-buses.co.uk/0
