Help sought in finding Term Deposits for a Charity

Options
I run a small charity with a capital reserve of about £200K that is coming due in two months after several years. I have been charged by the Trustees to invest four lots of £50k into FSCS protected term deposits which are open to Charities. We already have money in CAF and (through them) a short term deposit bond with Birmingham Midlands. We use the interest as income to help support the work of the charity. Can anyone please suggest where I might go for the other four term deposits? I haven't a clue what to do and please believe that I have been looking. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Much, much thanks.
Cheers

  • With this amount to invest you should be taking independent financial advice.
  • Yes, trustees are required by the Charity Commission to take advice on investments from an appropriate/qualified person, if there isn't a trustee with relevant experience. Asking on a forum doesn't count.

Thank you for your advice. I will seek out such advice. We had taken such once previously on recommendation, but I fear it worked out very badly.

I should say that the trustee who asked that this be undertaken is an accredited auditor herself and was previously Head of Trading for a major European bank. (I don't know if that is sufficient qualification. Again, grateful for your kind advice.)

I'd suggest asking the Independent Examiners what would constitute independent financial advice and where to look for it.
