Add to that the wonderful story in the ES last night, that over 1 in 10 police officers are off sick or unavailable for duty at any one time due to health reasons.
When asked to comment, some bureaucrat suggested they were pleased the record in the police was comparable to OTHER PUBLIC SECTOR bodies.
You couldn't make it up.
Sickness in the public sector will always be higher, due to the nature of the job.
Police officers are more likely to get attacked and injured, or injured in line of duty.
Fireman are more likely to get injured in line of duty.
NHS staff are more likely to pick up illness and get attacked.
Army personnel are far more likely to get injured than any of the above group.
It's not just a case of public sector workers being lazy.0
