Spam emails

My computer keeps sending out spam emails to everyone in my address book.

I am with AOL, have AVAST and Malwarebytes.

Does any one have any suggestions....I'm not making myself any friends by doing this!

You may already realise but either your machine has malware which is doing this or your email account credentials are known by someone else.

I dont know how to use the windows-based tools to sweep your machine for malware but a lot of the folks on here do so they may be able to help you. Its likely malware based on your PC though, if you powered off your PC or disconnected from the Internet, and the problem stops then this is the case.

If you have a anti-virus software then running a scan may show up some results and maybe even help you fix the problem. Personally Id ditch windows and install Ubuntu.. but then im biased

You should at least change the password for your email account.

have you updated MBAM and run a full scan? If not, do this now.

Yes, I second this, do that immediately! If you cant login then you know you've been "pwned" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pwn )

When this happened to me, I copied all the contacts in my address book and then deleted them so no more emails could be sent.

What makes you think that these emails are really sent by you? Because other people are receiving SPAM with your email address as sender? The From: email address can be forged easily...

Where do you keep your address book ? On your computer or on the Web ... makes a big difference
