Has anyone else out there found that Frontline doesnt work on cats anymore? Its not worked the last few times I've used it. I now find that Stronghold is the only thing which works on flea control on cats.

i also had the same probs last summer took me ages to find a flea treatment that worked i used to use prescription frontline for over 4 years and it stoped working, tried stronghold didnt work! in the end resorted to advocate, also on prescription and have been using that for almost a year now and its still working, only downside it doesnt stop ticks so i use additional treatment for that as we live very close to the woods.:D0

I gave up on Frontline around 4 years ago and have been flea free, touch wood, since. I now use Advocate (well the dogs and cats do!)Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0

I must admit that I often sell frontline (or effipro - same active ingredient - fipronil), and have never heard an owner report any problems in 12 years. Personally, I use advocate because of the added lungworm protection, but it is quite pricey.
I always stress that any flea treatment must be used in conjunction with a household spray - no spot on will work 100% unless you treat the environment too - again personal choice, but I use indorex - 12mths cover for £15 ish. Be careful if you have fish or birds though, as they will need to be removed during and after treatment, for at least a few hours, preferably a couple of days if possible.I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Most cases of treatment failure with Frontline are down to incorrect use of the product. Make sure you apply the product according to the instructions, especially when using Frontline Spray (you need a LOT more than you first think - check the leaflet). It needs to be applied regularly (every 8 weeks is the manufacturer's recommendation, in practice it may require more frequent infestation). Don't wash your pet for at least 48 hours after applying it, or it'll wash off. If you have an infestation of fleas, you cannot treat the animal only, you must also treat the house. Etc etc.
Been looking for information about true resistance to Frontline, haven't found anything convincing yet, will keep looking. So far the whole debate seems a bit vague on both sides.0
