new to ebay and have read about how it works - well almost.
i have few items i want to get rid off. the main one is a very old sony colour tv. it was made before remote control became a norm. it works but sometimes the station loses it's signal so you have to tap it gently or just retune it slightly. the picture quality is good. strong colours etc. i suspect a dry joint somewhere - well the tv is at least 15 years old. not asking much just want someone twho can have use for it.
it is hidden in the store room doing nothing. would normally take it to the skip. was wondering if i put it on ebay will there be any interest in it?
has anyone came across or have experience on selling unwanted ''junk'' ??

Unfortunately some junk has very little value, especially where people may have to pay more for postage and packing than they could buy a new TV for new.
Personally I would freecycle or dump a very old TV.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I recently got rid of an old 15" CRT computer monitor. Did a quick search on eBay, and a seller was selling 50 of them and bidding had reached - £3 with a couple of hours to go. lol. Did a bit more research than that, but basically they weren't selling.
So off to the skip it went!
Personally, if you try and sell it tomorrow your going to lose 5p so why not give it a go. List it as a Buy it Now price of whatever you'd be willing to accept, £5 £10 or even £1? lol. Collection Only. See how you do?
If it sells, money in your pocket. If it doesn't, you lost 5p and you take it to the skip or freecycle.0 -
Freecycle is better than the skip as it doesn't cost you petrol :j And it's all about keeping things out of landfill, too, so your conscience is clean. Worth trying the TV on Freecycle, I reckon. Plenty of people looking for projects!
I've just Freecycled a 17" monitor that I tried to GIVE to a guy who collected a PC he'd bought off me. He didn't want to know so I knew there was no point going to the trouble of trying to ebay it.
Out with the junk, I say!My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

Some old TVs are worth a packet though. I remember those Philips ones that came out in the late 60s and looked a bit like a space helmet. Worth hundreds now
Best thing is to look at "completed items" and see if there's any interest in one like yours. Can I help?0 -
If it's only 15-20 years old than it's unlikely to have much collectable status yet, but no harm in listing on eBay's 5p listing day at a low price (I'd suggest £5 ono) collection only to see if anyone buys it. You could try listing in in collectables > vintage/ retro as well as under televisions, if you think its age could add to its appeal for some buyers. If it doesn't sell, Freecycle is the way to go: it costs you nothing, and people will take almost any "junk" off your hands!0
