Reconnecting My Line Help

My previous tenants in their wisdom changed line rental and BB to Bulldog, the new tenants then tries to contact BT and were told Bulldog had a marker on the line.

I called Bulldog and was told we had to wait the defaul 30 days notice period to remove the marker

30 Days later the Marker is still there, Bulldog say they need to speak to previous customer or we have to pay for new line. (I assumed they were owed money) subsequently previous tenant whom I spoke to said he had been messed around too by Bulldog but now had settled his account, which Bulldog confirmed. They also said the marker would be removed by 11 september.

Rang BT on 11 Sept, they say they will send an engineer on the 8th October at the earliest!!

What an absolute knightmare, does anybody know why BT would need to send an engineer and why it would take them a month to sort it, as usually they can do it over the phone.

This has meant my tenants have not had a line for 3 months due to no fault of their own, i paid for the initial line to be installed only 3 years ago so am loathed to pay for another line.

Does anybody know what all this is about?

When Bulldog take over a line, its physically disconnected from the BT equipment at the telephone exchange and connected to Bulldog's own equipment.

I imagine that the engineer is needed to reconnect the line back to BT's equipment at the telephone exchange.
