Haggling for Car insurance

I would like know who you have successfully haggled for car insurance with? and what tactics did you take?
Although the car insurance guide makes mention of haggling with car insurance companies I am unable to find any links to a forum thread discussing it or find any companies that will budge! My top three quotes come in between £718-£753 with Elephant/Admiral/Diamond & Swiftcover. The first I have spoken to on the phone with no joy, the other I will try again in office hours.
I have also spoken to Swinton who were a joke, saying it would cost me more that the comparison site quoted because I speaking to them on the phone, losing the internet discount. Then I ended the call & at the top of the webpage it says 'Call this no. for deals not available online'!!!
FirstDirect have been the best so far; they phoned me back (after giving them my no. online) and I spoke to a clear spoken english woman who sounded like she had some legal education herself. I told her all about my short but valid insurance experiences and 7 months no claims driving and she explained to me that currently my quotes from them were not competitive but that she could ask the underwriters if they could use my previous 12 month provisional policy quote with their official 'beat your renewal by 10%' promotion. If so this would save some £300 off my current best quotes!:T Can't wait to hear back from her tomorrow. She also made sure what time I was in and that she herself would be able to speak to me again. If this is an indication of the whole company I would love to be insured by them!
