wuauclt.exe constantly launching

Hi.

I have had to turn off auto updates because this is coming on all the time even though my laptop is set for weekly download.

It has only happened since the latest round of window updates.

Any ideas?

better to turn them on for notification but to let you choose when to download...it then runs when you boot and then levaes you alone most of the time :)

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

  • Look at your history in windows update, you may find one that is constantly failing, and thus keeps trying to re-install.

I personally didn't install the powershell one, and first time round the .NET Client one was a pain, uninstall it and re-do, see if it's any better

I possibly would do a restore (system restore not the full monty) to last Monday (9th???) and see if that stops it running continuously and then re run WU manually. I take it you are on XP3 already ? It could possibly be due to Malicious Software Revmoval Tool too !?
