E-on electric account in credit.

I've just noticed online that my electric account is £86 in credit. I set up a standing order a few months ago and this goes out weekly however I worked out that by the time of my next bill I will be approx £400 in credit so clearly the amount I am paying is too high.
Is it possible to get a refund for the amount I am in credit before changing the weely payment to a lesser amount?

I'd get the refund back first then think about dropping the DD a bit. Just be careful not to drop it too much and be left owing a hefty amount just before or after Christmas, don't forget the days are getting shorter now and it's already getting colder - gosh where did summer go?!

How did you work out you would be £400 in credit by the next bill (typically within 3 months) when you are only currently £86 in credit now?
As you appear to pay regular weekly amounts, you should be building up credit at this time of year to pay for the winter period when you would expect your consumption to increase.
If you only wish to pay for what you have actually consumed, contact your supplier and explain you wish to changing to paying on recipt of bill. This may mean you end up paying more, but they should be able to explain all this to you.
I note you say you pay currently by standing order? Do you mean direct debit? If not, you can vary the standing order amount and frequency any time you like by contacting your bank. That means you could even stop payments temporaily or permanently (but you'll need to ensure you keep paying the supplier in accordance with the terms you've agreed with them)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Already some excellent advice on here; thought I would just add a couple of points.
Payment arrangements by Standing Order are worked out in a similar way to Direct Debits. We will set up a year long arrangement to cover ongoing usage and any debt which may be on the account.
The total annual cost will be calculated and split into 52 weekly payments.
Consequently, as Premier says, you should build up credit during the summer to offset higher winter bills.
Give us a call with your latest meter readings. We will bill your account up to date and review your arrangement.
If you wish, any credit balance will be refunded although this might lead to a request to increase your weekly payments. As I say, at this time of year it is quite normal to be in credit.
With Standing Orders, you need to set the arrangement up with your bank and change the weekly collection rate if appropriate. Unlike Direct Debits, we are unable to do this for you.
