Not a great supply of them around but those coach houses above garages on new build estates would be cozy enough that you didn't feel you were rolling around but bizarrely provide you with a detached property.

Smaller property in a good area is always going to be better for you than a large one in a not so good area, so consider what your budget will buy in different parts of town.

Areas with young families would be good as they feel safe to be living there. As long as you can cope living near young families!
