  • Agree with others re: mobile costs. Mrs Savage has one of these Blackberry things on Orange with unlimited browsing and pays half what you're paying.

So here it is. The OP has a relatively low salary, but has an expensive mobile phone, a car, sky tv, smokes etc, and wonder why money runs out.

Duhhhhh . it's not rocket science, is it? You're aspiring to a middle class lifestyle on a working class income.

plus i pay some support to an ex gf so she'll leave me alone 100 a month

    Sorry, come again?

What exactly are you paying her £100 a month for?

Why won't she "leave you alone" otherwise?

Is there any way you can stop paying this?

i had an old threat on the relationship section detailing some info, basically she is a leech, and a criminal, but despite me knowing this i couldn' stay away and was left to foot the bill.

she knows I'm wesk, i even moved 100 miles down south to get rid of her, but she uses all her charms to try suck me back in.

she agreed she'll keep her distance from me if i give her some financial support, i even had to pay her off wth a lump sum after she left prison.

    it's really complcated!
She LEFT me, she LIED, and she made me foot the BILL !

You shouldn't be paying this woman if there's no legal reason (shared debts, children etc...). Change your contact details, get an injunction... do you really want to be connected to her for the rest of your life? What happens if you want another GF, get married etc... do you think any other woman is going to put up with this?

you're right, i know that, everyone has told me to change my mobile number and email address, she doesn't have my address.
i just send her cash by post, with no return to sender details, she's a right manipulative woman, i'm going to stop the payments as soon as i change email and mobile numbers.

It takes hardly any time to change email and mob numbers......it seems that something is holding you back from changing them....£100 is a lot of money this is the quickest way you can get more money a month!

Or just block her from your phone and email and stop paying her immediately.

Hiya, first time poster so I hope I am in the right place, couldn't find anywhere else to post it.

I earn a "decent" wage, very much underpaid but aren't we all :(

I do not own any credit cards nor have I got an over draft, I live on the money I earn, well I try to.

Since Feb I've been struggling quite considerably. Money seems to run out during week 2 or 3 out of sometimes a 5 week month.

Admittedly my money management skills are not at their peak but I am conscious of what I have and fear not having but it doesnt help, I think I am trying to make money last that just isnt possible?

I am not sure of the policies of the forum but without giving exact numbers, my outgoings are :

    Rent @ £375
    C/Tax @ £91
Mobile @ £42 - this is very high - ring provider and reduce
Scottish Power @ £93 (will be changing as of next month but I anticipate by nothing more than 50%) - this is very high for one person
Sky @ £28.50 (package cut down to bare bones) - this is not bare bones; the lowest package is £18.50 per month; does this include HD pack? You cannot afford this £28.50 per month is a lot of money
Dad repayment @ £50 - How much do you owe? Maybe you could reduce this amount and take slightly longer to pay?
    TV License @ £12
Car @ £154 - Is the car finance? If so then that is a debt; how much do you owe and how muc longer do you have to pay it back?Could you sell and get a cheap run around if you have to have a car
Insurance @ £54- Very high; shop around for a better deal

    Infact its quite accurate :rotfl:

Now I'm left with £400 ish if I settle all that on payday and thats to last me. I do smoke, I do have a kitten and I obviously need to petrol the car and eat/drink etc.

Am I fighting a lost battle?

I just cant control it, I am trying to get out of the vicious circle of borrowing/repaying money but I dont think thats going to be the solution.

Hi I have put some notes above. Also £400 per month for one person should be plenty to live on. Do you know how much you spend per month on food; cigarrettes etc. I suggest you keep a spending diary and evey time you spend anything write it down then you will see where you are spending money

Hope this helps. Good on you for looking at this now.
