Evans Halshaw, please help!
Two years ago I got a car on finance with Evans Halshaw. On the day of picking up my vehicle I was advised by the sales person that one of the Keys for the car had not arrived so I would only have one key for the time being. I was advised by the sales person that he would be in contact when the new key came in.
Anyway admittedly 6-7 months down the line I had forgotten about the key until I received a safety recall which prompted me to call the garage.
I arranged for my car to go in and advised I was still waiting for the key. The office went off to check my paperwork and said I had signed the new car handover sheet to say I had received keys so it was my own fault, I shouldn't have left the office without the second key blah blah blah. They said I would need to pay for a new key. I argued this at the time and was adamant that I hadn't signed anything so asked for all the paperwork they had to be sent to myself. The paperwork arrived I moved house, then moved house again so never really checked over it in any detail until today....
Having a quick check through my files I found the paperwork they had sent, In the paperwork is a "Evans Halshaw Customer Vehicle Handover sheet" which has all the boxes ticked stating all items present and correct and I am satisfied with its condition. In the box where it says customer signature is an attempt at my signature but its clearly been forged!! Does anyone know where I stand with this? I have also found a vehicle invoice piece of paperwork which doesn't even have my signature on it, the invoice states that I should only sign if i wish to be legally bound by the terms and conditions. I really mad that someone could forge my signature and it concerns me that this practice could go on. Any advice as to where I can go from here would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

To the police it's fraud0

I'd see what they have to say about it first, then go to the Police.0

Can you prove that it is a forgery ? If not, you don't have a case.
They would also argue that you weren't that concerned about it as you did absolutely nothing about it at all.
I am not saying you are wrong but it could be argued that your lack of urgency over this shows that you weren't exactly fussed about it.
Apologies if that sounds harsh, I am playing devil's advocate here !!Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -
I think I could, I have complex signature and the signature is clearly nothing like mine. Everything about the way the letters loop are a dead give away. Plus on one of the other documents I have (which is stapeled to this document) it has both my signature and the salespersons signature and it looks more like his signature but signed in my name!! I'd pay to have a handwriting analyst look at it if needs be.0

P.s I get the urgency thing I should have checked them. They were adamant I'd signed this document and were happy to send me a copy to prove it was signed. I flicked through the documents at the time but didn't check them properly as I was filing them ready to move house - no excuse I know.0

I really can't see it working in your favour - you've ignored it for so long that they'll say 'get stuffed' !! Also, you took so long to look at it after you requested the info that it's a double delay !
The million dollar question - if it was important, why didn't you deal with it at the time ?
Ps How much is a new key ?Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -
I can't help but I have to say I HATE Evans Halshaw. Bought my car from them and they were like a bunch of kids. Completely useless!!0
