Ok, I have just come off the phone to NCFE my certificate is the equivalent of 5 GCSE's grade D-G
Do you think this will be enough to show "a good standard of education"
I also have found a certificate with a Distinction in word processing, surely this must be plenty proof?
It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice!!
  • So all you really have at the minute is 2 certificates?

IMO I don't think they will take that as a 'good standard of education'
Have you tried finding out who the examining bodies were in your area? I would definitely be trying to get hold of those GCSE's if I were you.
    Future Mrs Gerard Butler :D

You'd really have to phone the employer and ask. How long after you left school did you do these?

Thing is, the general minimum standard which the govt wants every 16yo to reach is at least 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths and English.

OP it can take up to 28 days for new certificates, so get your skates on! You'll need to provide evidence of everything you put on the application form.
  • You could also try and see if your local council archives have copies of your school reports (though might be too recent for them to have)

    Okay, okay panic over.

I had to go in today with all of my documents, passport, driving license, proof of address etc, I took my NVQ certificates in with me just on the "hop" as it where, and she has accepted these (thank God!)
I have sent away for my original docs to be on the safe side too though, so thank you all for your advice.

  • A bit of an update/query please.
I have had all my checks done and I'm now just waiting for a start date, how often should I ring for an update for this?
I rang once last week to see if they'd received my CRB back (which is all they where waiting for) as I'd received my copy and then I rang again on Monday. I just don't want to seem like I'm pestering the heck outta them, just I need to hand in my notice for my current job too.

    Any ideas on courtesy??
