Bank transfer - Is it safe?

Hello,
I have sold something on ebay and my buyer wants to pay by bank transfer as it's slightly quicker than a cheque...
My question is. Is it safe to give out my bank details? and exactly what details will she need sort code? account no?

When you use a cheque you give someone else your bank sort code, your account number *plus* a copy of your signature. When you allow someone to pay you by bank transfer all you need to give them is your sort code and account number (assuming it is UK to UK). Therefore it is safer than using a cheque.
From a sellers point of view bank transfers are great!

I prefer bank transfer to pay someone or for them to pay me. It's quicker and you don't have the trip to the bank.0

I would prefer all my buyers to use bank transfers save on those scummy paypal fees and save the time for a cheque to clear... =======================
