I'm going for the MSE option for my business! SO many people make their own invitations I think running classes would be more beneficial to my business than making stationery for people ! I hope all true money savers have picked the "saving money" option!
Thats a good idea. My sister went to night classes to learn to make invites, this was about 7 yrs ago before so much DIY stuff was available.
She then went on to set up a small business making invites in her spare time but never really made much from it. She did it for the love of weddings :rotfl:
So many people make their own now and the internet makes things sooo much easier and cheaper to source.0 -
Hello
I'm having 190 in the day and I ordered my invitations. I have made my other bits of stationery and wish I had paid someone to do it! Will fill in your servey now...
Good luck with your business!0 -

Survey done, just some extra feedback on Q.4 for you though. My main reason I'm making our stationary is that I am having a very unique design/style that I've only ever seen 2 other people use themselves. It's a design that I've seen on a craft website, never anywhere else, certainly not in any wedding related site I''ve visited (and I've visited a lot).
Also I'm designing ours to match in with our theme, I know a lot of people use one clear theme in their wedding stationary that fits with their wedding theme but often have to adjust or go more generic because of this.
I think classes sounds like a really good idea I can imagine that it would be quite popular, as a wedding is one thing where a lot of people want to hand make their invites even if they are not normally a crafts person!A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
Did the survey, I don't know what I would think of the classes TBH, I think the hardest bit of making your own is the amount of time they take to make, not sure if I would book as I'd be fearful it'd be a waste of time and money (I'm not saying it would be, but whatever I made at the class still wouldn't get me a step up into making them all) if there was a taster class to see the varieties and have a go to see how complex each one was, then a series of more classes to actually make the invites I'd be much more up for it.
Then I would say £12 each or £17 for a couple for the taster class, and then £15 each or £20 for a couple per 4hour workshop thereafter (including standard materials) with the idea being the more invites they make the more classes they should need to attend! And you could have a selection of "upgrade materials" available. I'd like the idea of having somewhere clear of clutter to make them without the distractions of being at home, and having someone to help when things get tricky!
Not sure how the logistics of it would work, and when or where you'd do the workshop though.Bump due 22nd September0 -

Hayley what do you mean by this???
I made my invites for around £40 including all card, papers, inserts, ribbon, embellishment, glue and envelopes (the ink for inserts was kindly donated by work shhh!) I bought enough to make 70

Dont really come to this forum very often but saw this on the front page and had to look
this may sound really odd following all of the other posts but wanted to add our story, we got married 11 years ago, went to a small island off the coast of the US with a wooden chapel, horse and carriage the works. Started out as just both sets of in laws but in the end there were about 30 of us including some US friends, everyone who came wanted to come, they paid for themselves and made a holiday out of it we had two wedding dinners including what americans call a rehearsal dinner the day before the wedding. When we returned we had about 150 people at a night time do family, friends and work colleagues. however looking back at it we both say if we probably shouldnt have bothered with the night time. Not only was it a lot of money but we probably dont see most of the that were invited and close friends came to our day time. Told you it might seem odd, but think my point is that the numbers for the night time can end up being very high you invite everyone you can think of but do most of them really need to be there, you can be selective and its probably wise to be
