Car Insurance renewal

My husband was phoned at work on the 12th Aug to renew his car Insurance but contacted his bank where it was cheaper so he cancelled it with the other company the next day.
It is not due for renewaL until the 22nd Aug they say because it has been processed that he must pay for them claiming thier money back from Collonade and admin fees is this correct as it isnt due yet

If he renewed, then cancelled the next day, it is probably correct, but check the policy wording regarding cancellation costs.0
