Should I get an iMAC 21.5 or 27inch? OR...should I get a macbook pro? :( i just can't decide at all. I mean what's the pros/cons for each? Is it just the convenience? :S

    why do you need a Mac? They are overpriced in my opinion. I dont think they look any better than PCs nor are they any more powerful. Fan boys will be on here to recruit you to their 5% fan base. If you want to know what Apple think of you, watch Steve Jobs slimy comments about how the iPhone 4 problems are software based and then read the consumer watchdog report which shows its hardware issue. he thinks Mac owners are all idiots too blinded by the market hype, exclusive club to see that he produces the same tat that everyone else makes but charges you double.

    BUt to add what do you want to do with your new computer? That way you might get something cheaper, more useful for you.

    Well, while it's true, this is Steve-o's opinion, but you can usually get a good deal on a refurb mac by clicking here *edit* ok this link doesn't work.. BUT you can get to it by clicking "special deals" on the bottom left of the Apple store

    I bought an imac from there, never had any problems, neither does my gf's macbook

    True, it does come down to cost, you may not necessarily need a mac. The desire to have one might be there, but really, do you need it?

    Speaking of my own personal experience, I hated windows, can and still do use Linux (work computer, home server and a freeNAS box), but I use my imac for more day to day stuff, like photographs and photoshop work.

    The screen is fantastic, it's fast (despite being "old" by todays standards). It's not windows (big thing for me). Also the tech support is really good, had a problem, had one number to call and it was done and dusted within 5mintues with the option of taking it to an apple store.

    Pricey = yes
    Stylish = yes
    Tech support = one of the best i've experienced
    Would I do it again? = yes!

    So it all depends on what your requirements are for it.
    :exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!

    TBH, I am done with Windows. I used to use linux on my old laptop before it went and blew up on me, but i just want to try a mac. I have the funds for it, it's just down to whether I want a macbook or an imac and what size. I'm going into 4th year, so my dissertation is due, so on that front for presentations etc, I was thinking a macbook but then I LOVE the look of the imac, and having a desktop again rather than a laptop.

    *I hate making decisions* It's not out of "needing" one, just desire lol, and the ability to run everyday programs, so nothing too strenuous, saying that I think that the 21.5 is probably enough for me, now I just have to decide wheter the macbook or imac is more appropriate :S

    macs are not overpriced, they only look that way because they cost more but for what you get they are value for money even at a high price tag.
    we have an imac and it works much better than our technically superior windows machines.
    just pick one, you wont make a 'bad' decision both are great

    Yeah, I guess so, ATM, I also get a £130 rebate on an IPOD Touch, or £120 on a nano, and! a £70 rebate for a printer, also, something like 3% cashback from Quidco and my student discount...

    I not understand what problems peeps have with windows, I know some like Win ME was trouble and Vista has its moments, but overall I never get any problems, had more issues with Zone alarm messing up my system. Maybe Mac tech services are better than their iPods, refusing to repair or replace cause some over sensitive water sensor has gone red. I take it you not have any debts on your course? Other issue is what is your Uni useing for computers decitations usually also have a presentation of your work at the end, Last thing you want is some incompatability cause they use Windows and your work doesn't quite format right or something. Also when you enter the working domain they are more likely to be using PCs, so keeping up with them might just make your work life easier as well.

    If there's an Apple store near you go have a look... (by near you I mean relatively; my nearest is Glasgow - a trek of 50 miles but worth it when the old dear wanted to try an iPad)
