Egypt - are jabs needed and what for?

Off to Egypt in 5 weeks with the kids, I know it is advised that you have the jabs but how necessary are they? And what are they for?

I know a lot of people don't bother to have them but obviously I don't want to put the kids at risk.

Thanks

If you don't want to put your kids at risk then get the jabs !!
The chances of getting a disease might be slim but they can be very nasty.

You need to get to your GP ASAP.
Many insist on 4 weeks min.

We missed out in 2001 (due to 9/11 whe we were hestitate about our trip).
We paid 3 figures for jabs privately rather than for free at our GPs, but we felt it preferably to a nasty disease.

The good think is some are combined and they last quite a while these days.

  • To travel to Egypt you need to be up to date with your tetanus, and you also need hepatitus A and typhoid, the latter 2 of which are only given when you travel so you definitely all need these! I'm fully immunised and ready for the off in 2 1/2 weeks, very excited!! Enjoy the holiday....and the jabs!! ;)

You don't actually NEED to have any to travel to Egypt !

    Some are recommended, however:

Your travel insurance may also be invalidated if you do not have the jabs. Worth double checking the small print just in case. Some are more picky than others.
