scrapping your car?

I'm getting a new car & have saved 5k for it, I'm after a used Vauxhall Corsa & was after a part-ex deal as I have a clapped out Ford Ka 85k on the clock part service history & a boot & drivers door that don't open with one key only that's broken but has a nail through so I can open the passenger door! The MOT is up for renewal in September so I realise it's probably best to scrap it as I was only offered 50 quid (with tax) even though I've got over 6 months tax worth 80 quid & 2 reletively new front tyres!

I was wondering would I get a bit more for scrap??:T

Ring a scrappie or two and ask what they'd give you or drive round a few and ask?

TBH you are probably only talking a few tens of pounds either way. I would do what involved least effort on my part.

Stick it on ebay, there is little mechanically that can go wrong with Ka's and although you may think it's a shitheap to someone else it's a cheap run around.

Selling it on Ebay will get you around £200 minimum! There is a lack of small cheap run arounds for 1st drivers and little work would get yours in good working order. :)

How can you know that? Apart from the fact that one door and the tailgate are faulty, we have no information at all on the state of the mechanicals or bodywork or interior.

OK Smart A$$ but does it really matter?
The OP only stated minor faults which would make you assume anything big eg; Engine/gearbox are fine.

Without getting into the argument, surrender the tax before you sell or scrap it. At the return you are looking @ it's sensible.

And as above, someone would pay £100 for an engine in a car they could see/hear running if they wanted one, stick it on ebay as runner or spares, ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
