Don't sell if you don't know how to !!!!!!!

Years ago when me and OH first used eBay to buy and sell, we sat for hours and read how to do everything, pity not everyone does that!!!
Anyway, my problem is, I won the bidding on an item, and paid for it with Paypal, through the link on eBay.
Seller has just emailed me saying they haven't got a Paypal account so can I refund the money (eh?!) and send a postal order and they will send the item out today (double eh??!).
What do I do now to get my money back, as this has never happened to me before?

Sounds like a scam. The famous my paypal account doesn't work or I haven't got one. If they havent and you have sent the money your paypal transaction should say unclaimed. You can just cancel that and get refunded. If it doesn't say that you'll have to open an INR after 7 days for a refund.0

It was the first thing they have sold, so it does seem like they don't have a Paypal account.
He's responded to me via the email Paypal sent him to say he had funds, so I can see that at least.
I've just logged into Paypal to have a look and it says completed?
So it's a 7 day wait for me to do an INR claim, then I should get the funds back?Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Just tell the seller to respond to the email from paypal. It should include instructions on how to open an account. Don't send a cheque.0

I'm not sending anything, haven't got a cheque book and I'm not paying by postal order either.
I've replied to their email saying that they had Paypal as a payment option on their listing and I can't refund something that I have sent.
I'll see what they reply with because they have bought a few things and a couple of those only has Paypal as a payment option, so how would they have paid for those? Unless they were local and collected? So that's what I'll ask them.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
You can pay without having an account. Strangely, you can also take paypal without having an account. Of course, to get the money you must then open one. Their problem.0

I thought it was impossible to sell on Ebay without first having a Paypal account? I'm sure when I opened my Ebay account (only about 1 year ago) that I didn't have any choice!
Perhaps this person is a scammer? People do seem to open mutiple Ebay accounts to leave behind negs etc!0 -
The rules on ebay state evreyone must accept paypal0

Ahhh OP,that statement "Don't sell if you don't know how to !!!!!!" is not very fair. I read nearly everything when i started selling last wk but just because i read it doesnt mean i understand it. I dont know how to sell because i have never done it before. Thats why i have to come to this board for help.Shannon x0

I have to agree bought some shoes from a new seller. Paid for on the 4th they messaged me on 12th saying they will post them the next day or Saturday. I have let them know they should have posted within 7 days and i am not to impressed with them but in a fairly mild way. So yesterday i had a message from them simply saying "let me know when they arrive". I have already planned the feedback i will be leaving that's if they are New and unmarked i kinda have a sinking feeling now. Its nearly 2 weeks after sale now
