Do you have a second teaching language?
  • Nothing I'd feel competent enough at- I took Japanese A Level but it's all gone, couldn't do French owing to timetable clash but would be willing to re-learn French and get an A-Level as it's much easier than Japanese haha!
  • Hi everyone! Thanks so much for your input.

Gleeful - I don't find the idea of teaching groups of children terrifying, but it's something that in an interview situation would make me nervous as hell!

Kate - I volunteer with my university currently. Last year I did Right To Read in a local primary school. The school were amazing and invited me back on a longer placement when I finished my course. I had an AMAZING TIME!!!

Kaj - Applying for 2011 definatly. and wow with the music. I considered a PGCE in Music because it's one of my passions however I didn't take it to a level or degree and don't have grade 5 theory although I would love to take it. Hopefully though as you said my music skills will be helpful to me. I sing soprano (and am trained because of G5 practical and years in a choir) as well as playing tenor horn (although ab it of out practice) and piano (also out of practice). In terms of Journalism, I have still got a love for it but not as much as I did. I've found while I enjoy the industry, I dont want to work in it.

In honesty, I went on a few bad work placements for journalism. I had a couple of months where I was oh crap what am I gonna do. Then I was volunteering in a primary school as I loved working with children (have a younger sibling and lots of kids + have always been told I'm great with them) and started to think hang on why am i not looking into this. I love what im doing so why not?

Oldernotwiser - again hoping 3 A grade A Levels will work in my favour, even though 2 of them are english :D

House elf - I chose Creative Writing as it's something I love to do and while I was sure I'd love Journalism I wanted to keep my options open in case that changed (as it has!) The Creative Writing is so much fun and I've developed as a writer greatly with this. I've written things I'd never beleive I could write!

In terms of IT I'm a wizz :D I love using PC's etc. I was the sad person that started using photoshop to make dvd covers for fun

    ***********

So overall i know my challenge. It's going to kill me I think especially nbecause I am trying to climb the Cambridge mountain :S
