Unable to recover funds, how to approach credit card company?

To cut a long story short:
  • I bought a door bouncer for my 8 month old for under £10
  • win and pay by paypal immediately
  • seller says post next day last i hear from them
  • 1 weeks later nothing, email seller, no response..
  • 2 weeks after auction, begin dispute
  • 3 weeks after auction, begin chargeback
  • chargeback comes in my favour but unable to recover funds..
So now i'd like to recover my funds from my credit card (tesco :D).. but i don't want them to try and say "i havent got insurance or the like"... so whats the best way to ask them for a chargeback?
ummm...

Simply tell tescos that the item didnt arrive. The retailer in question is paypal. They should send througha form to fill in. Print off the ebay dispute as well as they agree that you are due a refund.
You will never be allowed to use this card again on paypal but thats no great loss.

    I claimed back £15

Oooh, is this true? Why would your card be blacklisted if you're just trying to get your money back? They can reclaim their costs from the seller one day. I never knew that and will not be asking a CC company for refund if this is the case, as I find PP essential for buying.

  • Paypal get very shirty if you do a credit card chargeback and have been known to throw their toys out of the pram in this way.

I guess the line between claiming and not claiming depends on how much money you can afford to lose to a scammer.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

Especially if you have been deliberately scammed, these auctions make you feel like s**t.

    Go get them!!!

So you are willing to loose money rather just you can carry on using paypal. You are the sort of custmer they love.
Just open more credit cards accounts that you only wish to use for paypal. Plus get cash back from quidco for doing so.!!!

Dont let paypal rip you off

Also it is worth noting that despite paypal warning that they may close accounts of people that chargeback via their credit card, most of the time they don't. Paypal are working close to the legal boundary on this one, they know they can't stop a credit card chargeback, no one can, so they put a meaningless term in their T and Cs to scare off people. However it is your legal right to chargeback, so go and do it.

I only have one CC account with no option to open others. I need paypal for selling and yes I would let it go if it meant not being able to use them. However, as I can't spend more than a few quid on anything anyway it doesn't matter. This is all hypothetical though, as I have no disputes at present.
