Ebico
appriciate some advice on Equipower
I rang the free number to set up an account with them but so far they have not returned my call despite saying that they would is there an alternative phone number? I wanted to speak to them about my needs before committing to changing to them.
Does anyone know if they actually bother to come out and read your electric meter or do they rely on the customer to do it all the time?
how good is there customer service I am currently with southern electric for my gas and they have excellent customer care. I am with scottish power for my electric and its my electric I wish to change
any experiences appriciated to get a general idea of how the company performs from the customer experience point of view and not the cost issue

Ebico billing is provided by Southern Electric, this also covers customer service after you have made the switch with regard to meter reading, billing queries. So you should enjoy the same customer service that you enjoyed with your Gas from Southern Electric, you will just be on the Equipower tariff.
I can only recall telephone Ebico once since I switched over and that was just to confirm the switchover date. When I switched over Southern Electric made two attempts to do an actual meter reading. I think I've had at least two attempts to read my meter in the last year since I switched.
I did have an incorrect estimated reading in favour of my old supplier when I switched my Gas, but this was resolved with a couple of phone calls to Southern Electric. The incorrect estimated reading occurred because I was not around when they called to read the meter.
One thing to note when I ring up to provide my meter readings as I have both Gas and Electric through Ebico, the Southern Electric system asks you for both meter readings. So you may end up with your Gas and Electric billing cycles being in sync. If this would bother you, use the online system to submit correct readings individually.0 -
They do usually call back but all call centre's are manic and your details could have been lost. You could call again or if you have questions, ask them here.
They do read the meter's more often than other providers but you still get estimated bills at least twice a year and often 3 times. As you obviously have internet access just update your readings each time you get a bill.

Why cant you all read your own meters, as i do and then post the readings on the Southern-electric web site.
This is the sensible way to get accurate accounts.0 -

Yes, that's what I did. Phoned in what I thought was the right date, got bills almost by return, and synchonized as well.
No more estimates, guesstimates for me, throws the forecast out.0 -
why cant you take meter readings yourself, well, point (1) I sometimes suffer with visual problems so if I am ill I cannot read the meter. (2) did you know each time the meter reader calls it costs the energy company concerned £20 pounds work that out over two years. By getting you to read your own meter they save money. Your actually doing there work for them!
