Haggling!

I don't know about any other part of the country but here in Wiltshire getting tradesmen who aren't booked up for months is really difficult - in a tile shop earlier 3 tilers have said to stop giving them work as they are booked up until January! So threads that recommend haggling people down are certainly not relevant in this part of the world, they would tell you where to go!!!

I have a small Joinery workshop, booked up solid for the next 3-4 months...I'm pricing most evenings too so TBH any customer trying to haggle wouldn't be taken seriously...
On the flip side I do know a fair few good tradesmen who are scratching around....
with regards to "recession, yeah right" Had a customer bounce a cheque for £5k on me last week and I have my doubts I will ever get paid for the work I did.Never had a bounced cheque in 25 yrs.........
On radio 2 last Friday ,(I think) there was the big fat, bald guy (Not Dominique Littlewood)from the programme "Cowboy Builders " saying "Never give a builder any money up front " ..........I'd like to meet that fat, bald headed !!!!!! and smack him on the snozzer......Someone should tell that plonker its not always cowboy builders who are dis honest......
Ashford in Kent, where there were thousands of new houses built and being built most of the sites are only working at about 20%, no buyers.......so there is a recession, but its fickle0 -
