Why don't you try use an iron (warmish to hot) and some paper towels (I usually use about 2). Put the paper towels over the ring, and start ironing, move the paper towel every few seconds otherwise it might stick. Once the mark is gone polish as usual. Has worked for me. Let me know how you get along :j0

Try rubbing it with brazil nut (out of the shell) which has been cut in half.I love my spell checker, it stops me making all sorts of stupid smelling mistakes. :doh:0

I got some stuff from the Betterware catalogue a while back for taking white rings out of wood, and was surprised to find that it worked. I was so sure that it wouldn't do anything that looking back now, I have no idea why I bought it. It just goes to show how MSE changes you - there's no way I'd part with money these days for something that I was convinced wouldn't do the job it was intended for. Good grief!Eek! Someone's stolen my signature! :eek:0

i decided to go with your idea first and it worked brilliantly.:T Thankyou very much. I would never have thought to do it this way. Saved me having to buy any special product. When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile0 -

OOoh, the iron's a new one on me, I wish I'd known that sooner, I gave a table away because I just couldn't get rid of the rings ( I was gutted, it was a gorgeous table) but it went to a good home so I shouldn't complain I guess.
Will file that one away for future reference, the fag ash and wax is great too but sometimes it just don't cut the mustard.

I have used a product called Ringaway on white cup marks. that is very good if the freebie method failed. I have a problem with my table which is a worse burn. I bought the table from a charity shop. The top was varnished but was peeling. I sanded it down to discover a circle of risen wood which loks as though someone has put a teapot on it. I dare not sand it any more as it is only MDF veneered and I might go right through. Would the iron method work on this, do you think?Keep on trucking!0

Might it have been a plant sat on the table that has caused the wood to raise
a bit of overwatering and suddenly the saucer is swimming.
Don't have any useful suggestions though.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0
