Problem with Virgin Media email?

Hi, is anyone else having problems receiving Virgin media emails in Outlook Express? I've got several Virgin Media addresses, none of which currently work, and a Blueyonder one (the original one) which is fine. Thanks.

  • If you uncheck SSL it seems to work again. It is being discussed on VM's own forums.
  • My ntlworld.com email isn't working tonight either.

It was all supposed to be fixed by the deadline of 8.00 pm (I've just noticed that the status page says 8.00 pm TOMORROW!). I'm prepared to bet £lots that it hasn't been.

    Oh look, here's another message:
"Task 'BlueYonder - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC0F). : The connection to the server was interrupted."

This has been going on on and off all day, and previously. Virgin Media email is becoming a sick joke ever since the switchover to the Gmail platform was supposed to give "increased reliability". In fact, the opposite has happened.

    From their Status Page:
    Broadband feature interruptions

The following issues may be affecting some aspects of your Virgin Media Broadband service.

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: '12.abcde.virginmedia.com', Server: 'pop3.virginmedia.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Malamute - don't touch your settings at present - the problem is at THEIR END...

As they say, webmail is still working 'ok'.

I'm glad it's not just me. I have been mucking about for the last hour, without any success. I'm afraid to change anything because I do not have the faintest idea of anything to do with email settings.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

short term solution set up forwarding on web mail to another email account (if you have one) which you use on outlook express or whatever email programme your using, to anyone who has changed the SSL setting the default is SMTP 445 and POP3 995 and ticks in both box,s
  • I was just about to post that my ntlworld email was working, but it's gone again! Ah well, least some got through before it fell over.
