I've just got a samsung Europa i5500 phone (Pay&Go Tesco sim), and wondered if anyone can tell me how I can use WiFi to connect to the internet. The instruction manual is not much help.
I've paired the WiFi on it with my wireless router at home, but cannot seem to find how to actually open it up and browse using wiFi.
When I clicked on youTube it opened using something called HSDPA, and I think charged me about £2 for about 30 seconds!!
I want to be able to browse without being charged (ie connecting to free WiFi)?

Does anyone know why this phone takes money off my pay & go balance, then puts some back?
Sounds silly, but say I check it one day and the balance is £3.50, then I check it later that day and the balance is £2.09, then the next day it is back to £3.50.
I have seen this on numerous occasions when i have not topped up or made any calls or sent any messages.
Is the phone getting 'updates' without me knowing or something, it seems really weird that it seems to take some money then put some back.
I've noticed this week that it hasn't happened as I have done the Tesco Mobile 'Unlimited browsing for £2 a week' thing.. so this points towards it being something 'internet' related?I Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -

Looks like charges for Data as opposed to no charge for wifi .
Something connecting in the background and racking up data charges is the norm .
Its a Smartphone and they are designed to be always on .
I use Quick Settings to turn of Mobile Data , Background Sync is off in settings .
Download via AppBrain .
I suggest you Google the phone and find some user forums . the user form on samsungmobile.co.uk is a starter . Their is rather a lot to these Smartphones to learn .

To disable £g internet is complex but here is the method:
Settings > Wireless and Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names > Your Provider's name > APN Type > Choose MMS
To re-enable, repeat and choose Internet +MMs on final step.0
