My beefeaters are outside and are mostly green, had two ripen up a few weeks back when the weather was nicer but the past three weeks of overcast skies has stalled everything completely, however I've had a stunning crop of Gardners Delight thanks to the green house - been scoffing delish cherry tom's for well over a month and loads still to ripen.

Edited to add we are in Berkshire.
  • Had about a dozen Gardeners Delight ripen with more on their way but many many more still green.

There are some flowers still looking very fresh - would anyone advise chopping these off now or chance leaving them?

I am leaving mine as I have a few flowers at the moment... and all the rest of the toms are still green.

We've still got flowers and green tomatoes here in Kent. Be patient, a voice in her head said.

It was my first time growing tomatoes last year and had loads of green tomatoes. i decided to cut my loses and make chutney with the green toms. I picked some and didn't have time to make the chutney straight away and ALL of them ripened inside (I didn't realise that would happen once they are picked!) and I had so many I didn't know what to do.

This year I will probably do the same. Good luck. Don't loose heart!

Yea all green here and lots of flowers still. Seeded in March gonna try in Feb next year me thinks! Will prob put them outside the front of the house which faces South instead. Known my luck I will wake up to find some buga has pinched them all lol. I tried the green once in the window sill surrounded by ripe bananas but that didn't work last year :( As I don't like green ones I had to compost them :(
  • Another way to ripen inside is to shut in a drawer (still on the vine) with a ripe apple.

Mine have been chutneyed, I'm afraid.

Relax - they will ripen. Mine were largely all green just 2 weeks ago - and now, are pretty much all red! And damn tasty!

They ripen better in an enclosed place, it keeps the gas from the ripe bananas in.
And if you don't want to compost them, put them outside with a note for people to take what hey want. Or offer them to people you know, it seems a bit of a waste.
