Hi People
I have a baby due in a couple of weeks and was wondering what I may be entitled to from the government?
I earn £25k per year and my better half was on around 17k (now on maturnity leave though).
I find all this sorta stuff a bit confusing as I have never claimed anything before but after reading various things I feel I should see what I can get to help out as things are going to be tight.
Is there a place I can go or a number I can call who would explain everything to me and at the end let me know all what I can go for or is that just to easy????
Any advise would be greatly appreciated as both myself and the misses are on DMP's so we need to be real savie with our finances.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Child Benefit.
I don;t know if you'd be entitled to CTC and WTC given the level of your income, try putting the figures into the HMRC's tax credit calculator to find out.
No offence, you say things are going to be tight - but it's all comparative to the lifestyle you've had before. Personally i'd consider myself very well off on £25K. Many of us have had to manage on far less.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

As you earn £25k a year, you will not qualify for many benefits from the government. Once the baby is here you or your partner can claim child benefit and tax credits. Has she applied for the various grants pregnant women can apply for? That's about it really. There's nothing you can claim for as you are working and not on a "low wage" by the government's description.August GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61

Your income is too high for WTC.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

You won't get WTC as your income is too high.
Once the baby is born, you can apply for CB and CTC.
Your 'better half' will be entitled to the £190 HIP grant, but thats it. She wont qualify for anything else maternity related. I presume she is also receiving SMP or MA?0
