AA Savings Account

Anyone got an instant access no penalty for withdrawing online account with the AA? If so what was the opening process like, and how quickly did you manage to transact on your account? What is their customer service like, and is their log in OK? Sorry for so many questions, thanks in anticipation of a reply.

Yes I have had one for a few months. Opening process was pretty painless - from start to finish it took just under 2 weeks for funds to be deposited once you wait for the usual passcode to be able to set up your on line account, which is sent via post.

I strangely set up a wierd answer to one of my security questions and had to call them up - they went through it and rest my password there and then.

    No complaints from me.

I've only done the first bit.

    Applied online.

48 hours later I got the welcome letter asking for a personal cheque for the first deposit.

EDIT: Just rung them to see if I can change the Linked Account and draw the cheque off a different one to that I provided. Not a problem - just send it back with a cover letter. Letter, declaration and cheque are now in an envelope.

I've not posted it yet, so can't help you with the rest of the process.

Thank you both, strangely enough I also had a problem with my Saga online account (same reg) and forgot how I typed my memorable question. Rang Saga up and they sent me a new access token within 20 mins and the e mail also told me exactly how to re set my data. Just think I need to split my funds so that if one of the web sites are down I can access the funds from the other one. Eggs in one basket and all that!
  • What happens if you don't have a cheque book ? Sort of archaic these days.

I think the opening (nearly two weeks) is very long winded compared to Barnsley BS or Sainsbury's which are almost instant, and for that matter Northern Rock. I haven't withdrawn any money yet but I imagine will take the usual 3 days via BACS transfer to nominated account.
