I'm sorry to say....Equita!

I have read as much as I can, learnt and trojaned on alone....now i'm a little stuck..

I tackled an Equita issue back in March and succeeded, with a lil help from you out there...

Had a payment plan in place to clear £407.03....somewhat too high for me but i paid it, down to my last payment....sent a cheque...they claim I claim i sent, but hasn't been received....in the meantime Mr Bailiff turns up while i'm puttin kids in car (HP Car might i add)

So...i do what i did before, in writing asked them to confirm receipt and settlement.

I received back a letter sayin....prove you sent a cheque...which i can't cuz as a doozer i didn't send it recorded. Mr Bailiff has left a letter sayin he wants £311. They also say maintain your payment arrangement with Mr Bailiff to prevent your vehicle being taken. There is no payment arrangement as i didn't speak to him.

The remaining balance..according to Bham City Council is £135.03, but they say deal with Equita.

My question is....who and how do i pay? I don't want to be foiled or robbed by Equita.

I have £50 today and remainder on 25th of this month.

P.s councillor surgery's are all on 1st sat of month, which has gone. Is it worth contacting them by mail/phone anyway?

help please? thanx
:o any help is much appreciated

was it a personal cheque. Can you check with the bank to see if it's been cashed?

Cancel the cheque that hasn't arrived.

    Hi

    if this was equita

1, He cannot levy on a car that is on HP sinbce it is no0t your property, so check your paperwork in this.
    2. You need to make sure equita are not charging illegal fees, of which a lot have been seen on here. Back with a letter later.

    Hi

As per the messsage left back in March

The expert on bailiffs is Herbie21. She provided this advice to a previous OP.

You need to WRITE to Equita or better still send an e-mail to:

    info@equita.co.uk

You need to say something along the following lines.

I refer to the above account in relation to unpaid council tax due to xxxx

As you will be aware from your files this account has been assed to your bailiff Mr xxx to enforce.

The query that I have is concerning the amount that your bailiff is now stating is due. You will be aware that your bailiff visited my premises on xxx and for this visit I am advised that Mr xxx may only charge a fee of £24.50 for "attending to levy where no levy was made".

As a matter of urgency can you please provide a full and detailed breakdown of the charges made by your bailiff.

They may well recognise the e-mail but that will not harm.

Unless they have a levy (you have let them in thehouse or they levied on a car, the most they can charge in fees is £42.50.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

Back in March did you get an on-line way of paying from Equita? Can you use this again to pay £50 now and the rest after 25th? (You also need to speak with the bank and cancel the cheque you sent)

Ok...thanku.....they have a website you can pay online, i just didn't want my money not goin on my debt and instead goin on illegal fees. I will make a payment and send a covering letter to confirm, also re itterating that they are 'again' tryin to pull the wool over my eyes with illegal fees...and hope that it will settle up soon.

Gutted for my friend as she had them at her door for her silly bf not paying a parking ticket....she paid them...and their illegal fees....£400 for an originally £35 ticket :-(

Sorted the cheque now NorthernLas thanx
