As part of an insurance claim, our insurer has agreed to put us up in a hotel for a few weeks whist repairs are done to our house. Does anyone know if they pay a set rate for meals and if so, how much do they allow and how many meals per day. Thanks

Taken from another post, someone was offered £15 per day per person for food costs, whilst staying in a hotel. They complained about it, but they were told, this was adequate for basic food.
So I am afraid the fillet steak or Lobster will be off the menu, unless you are paying for it.The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
I think it's doable if you take a picnic set from home and have breakfast cereal in the morning and a sandwich from the supermarket for one meal and just purchase one hot dish per day.
If you want luxury then you can of course add to it.0 -
As Quentin has said contact your Insurers, but bear in mind that if you were living at home you would still have to pay for food so they generally do not pay the full cost of meals.0
