Family Days Out Around Warrington?

We are staying over a couple of nights at Warrington Travelodge and have two days of sorted out (Chester Zoo & Legoland Discovery/Laser Quest etc at Trafford Centre) but need something to do on the other day?
We have already ruled out Gulliver’s as my daughter is too old (11) and Camelot as we have been before and it's not very good. If the weather is nice, Then Southport is an option for the beech but no doubt it will be cold or rainy (it is August afterall).

Hi
Knowsley Safari Park- about 15 miles from Warrington via M62/M57- is well worth a visit. I havent been for years but my niece and her kids went recently and they all really enjoyed it0 -
Blue Planet Aquarium at Ellesmere Port....all indoors there. Or Liverpool? Loads to do in the city itself, or take a ferry and go to Spaceport - there's a Wallace and Gromit in space thing on there at the moment0

It's only about an hour down to Alton Towers. Also there's 2 for 1 vouchers about for the Chill Factore and wind tunnel thing next to the Trafford Centre. Cheshire Oaks is great if you like shopping, but Blue Planet is incredibly overpriced - even with the free kid vouchers. Go Ape at Delamere Forest may also be worth a try.
As for Warrington itself, there's.......I'll get back to you on that0 -
Thanks for the replies, we haven't thought about Knowsley, so that could be something (Does anyone know how it compares to Woburn Safari, that place is great?). We have been to Spaceport before and didn't like it, although I did like the Doctor Who Exhibition at the time, Does anybody know how good the Wallace & Gromit Exhibition is?
As for Alton Towers & The Blue Aquarium, We have the Merlin Passes so have done Alton Towers quite a few times this year already and will have visited 4 Sealifes already by the end of the School Holidays (Blackpool, Alton Towers, Chessingtion & London).0 -
It's been a few years since we went to Knowsley Safari Park but it seemed very jaded and run down last time we went.
Depends where you live I suppose, but we've just paid £56 for 3 adults and 3 kids (with a family railcard) to get from Warrington to Edinburgh for the day. We'll use our merlin passes to go into the dungeon there. You can also get straight to York from here so that might be another option.0 -
Manley Mere adventure park is fabulous, you will get wet and dirty but great fun and you can also rent kayaks for an hour.

don't know if you have ever been to the Crocky trail but it is similar to that and my kids and their/our friends 7-40ish really enjoyed it here.0 -

Crockt trail is ace, not been there for a while but my boys love it and get so much enjoyment out of it, Its about an hours drive from warrington x0 -
Wildfowl & Wetland Trust at Martin Mere, Formby Point (National Trust place with red squirrels - if you're lucky - & sand dunes) and Crosby beach (for the Anthony Gormley work 'Another Place').
All between Liverpool & Southport so not far from Warrington.0 -
Songmaker Pop Experience :rotfl:
LOCATION: London,Brighton, Windsor, Reading (South East) Bristol, Plymouth, Poole (South West) Peterborough, Norwich (East) Sheffield, Nottingham, Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Northants (Midlands) Warrington, Lee0 -
Tatton Park (Cheshire) 30-45 mins from Warrington
Really nice big country park, its only about 30 mins from warrington down the M6,
Delemere Forest - 45 mins from Warrington
Lots of walks, lakes, go ape, etc, full day out there I think
.......or you could try stockley farm / Arley Hal (but I think younger kids enjoy that more)..0
