Paypal won't give me my money back!

  • Hmm, if there was a fee then there was a payment (not gift).

You may be able to open a claim, but I'm not sure for what. Item not recieved seems the closest, but not really...

Have a look at the details on your paypal account, look for the blue strip near the bottom, and see if you can proceed through that link, and see any option that seems to be appropriate.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p
  • I would send a request for the money to the same email address and ask politely for it back and explain the mistake. If you don't get a reply I would suggest contacting the police and see what they say.

Hi gary thank you for your post, I did send the guy a money request
and explained the money was not for him. He said that he tried to contact paypal to stop the transaction, Which is false as paypal have no emails or phone calls from this guy. so i kindly wrote him a nice email explaining everything to him. he replied that he has not got the money. paypal has. which clearly is not the case.
    thanks janey

So you know what sort of account he has then and can confirm he has actually received cleared funds? You are also trusting paypal to give you accurate advice as to whether or not they have had contact from this recipient or not. Paypal tell you exactly what you want to hear, accurate info is not their strong point.
In that case small claims is your only option, you'll have to prove it was a mistake of course and you'll need his full name and address to serve papers on him.

"You are legally a thief" means "You are a thief (legally speaking)"

If you were joking, it wasn't very funny...

You said in your first post:
I then rang another of Paypals helplines and spoke to yet another woman who told me that there was no record of my previous conversation/phone call

In your first post, you say that PayPal told you there was no record of your previous conversation, yet you know that you spoke to them. How can you be so sure that PayPal have not had any phone calls or emails from this guy?

I guess after bashing your head that many times I'd imagine you'd have no problem finding that joke funny :D
